Here are some of favorite Ubuntu resources. We intend neither to duplicate nor to contradict these resources, and when possible we will defer to them for specific questions.
Support
For support, Ubuntu offers a wide array of community options. You should start there if you have any specific technical questions.
We personally recommend the forums and the IRC channels/chat rooms.
Links We Love
In a general way, we want to share some of favorite sites, Ubuntu-related and otherwise.
- Coding Horror: Not Ubuntu- or even Linux-specific, this blog written by Jeff Atwood reflects a lot of good computer and web “common sense” and has been influential on how we approach our own software projects.
- Jorge’s Stompbox: Jorge works for Canonical in External Development Relations. Besides rocking hard, he is very motivated to make sure communication is smooth between Ubuntu and upstream projects (namely GNOME).
- Mark Shuttleworth: Ubuntu’s “self-appointed benevolent dictator for life”, Mark’s blog is focused and poignant, and reflects his genuine motivation to make Ubuntu the best operating system out there.
- Planet Ubuntu: Planet Ubuntu is a collection of Ubuntu developers’ and contributors’ personal blogs. While it’s not always topical (it’s not intended to be), it’s a nice “slice of life” of some of the people who drive Ubuntu’s progress.
- Tombuntu: Tom posts consistently good how-to and help posts about Ubuntu. He describes how to make the most of your Ubuntu and also highlights what to expect in upcoming versions. Probably our favorite Ubuntu how-to site.
